Mumbai, India — In a bold fusion of performance art and technology, Rudraksh Singh is redefining live entertainment with India’s first large-scale immersive comedy-poetry show integrated into the metaverse. Debuted during his sold-out Independence Day special at Mumbai’s Royal Opera House, the show featured interactive virtual segments streamed in real time through Horizon Worlds, allowing thousands of digital attendees to engage alongside the in-person audience.
The innovative format—an amalgam of stand-up comedy, spoken word, and audience-driven interactions—marked a new chapter in Singh’s creative journey and positioned him at the forefront of tech-enabled performance art in South Asia.
“I wanted to create something that feels both ancient and futuristic—like storytelling that bends space,” Singh said backstage after the show. Critics praised the seamless integration of live performance with digital immersion, calling the event a “blueprint for the future of performance art” in an increasingly hybrid world.
Industry observers note that Singh’s move comes at a time when the global live-entertainment sector is experimenting with immersive formats post-pandemic. But few have executed it at Singh’s scale or with such cultural specificity.
With Singh’s metaverse segments slated for syndication across international VR platforms later this year, the artist may be taking more than just Indian comedy global—he might be exporting a new medium altogether.
